A child's wisdom

The Sims 3

Ladies and Gentlemen...it's time to introduce you THE SIMS 3!

Well, many of you perhaps already know about it, but for me it's totally new, and I'm so excited! The new generation SIMS is coming, and which is more important - is coming less than a year (I hope). Well, we won't be able to use it until the beginning of 2009. To tell you the truth, that's the perfect time for me, because next year I'm about to have a new PC :))) Right now, with my Computer, I can even play Sims 2 with all his expansions, and that's a really big loss, believe me!

So, The Sims 3 main plus is that you're able to walk through your neighborhood, visit friends and stores. The graphic is stunning! Your Sim will be able to look just like you. There are many improvements. For example, the body shape. In Sims 1 you had only 2 opportunities - thick and fat; in Sims 2 you had 3, and now, in Sims 3 you'll have at least 5, which are step up in the perfect human's body. I mean like graphic.

Another improvement is the opportunity to change completely your furniture, walls and floor in the way you like, which actually means that you have much bigger choice of furniture, because you can choose their color, and organize them in tune. Before I had a problem with that, and I had to download all the time new furniture, because I was not satisfied with their color. I mean, they were great, but I always come with a new idea.

We can also call The Sims 3 "The Renaissance", because of the changes which the person endures. I mean, here in The Sims 3, the attention is focused on the person and its needs like career and personal relationships. Many things of the menu will decline. For example, there won't be anymore the option which shows you that your Sim have to bath/go to the toilet. Instead, when he\she has such a need, on the screen you'll see it as some new option, but only when it is needed. And, as an end, I'll say that the changes will be much more, but we'll know more perhaps round the beginning of the 2009, who knows...

I'm very excited about it! Can't wait...

Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney Todd was a serial killer in 18 century, maybe even one of the most successful killers of all times. He has chilled and thrilled the hearts of Londoners at 186 Fleet Street for over 200 years. His victim's list is about 160 customers. Sweeney was a barber who lived near Hyde Park Corner. His first murder is assumed to have been committed when a man came to him to shave, and told him about the night before when he had had very good time with a lady. Todd had a wife and was very jealous of her, but she didn't live with him. When the barber heard the description ot the woman, he concluded that was his wife. Filled with rage, he cut the young gentleman's throat from ear to ear.

Not many facts are known about his life. However, he became really famous when in 1847 George Diblin Pitt presented "The String of Pearls, or the Fiend of Fleet Street" as a melodrama at the Royal Britannia Saloon. That's the beginning of Todd's immortalization. Of course, the play didn't present the whole true story of his life. There have been many little changes since the first one was staged, but all share a common plot. Nevertheless, the story achieved its biggest success last Christmas, when was official date of realization of the film in the United States (December 21, 2007).

The director of the film is Tim Burton, Johnny Depp is Sweeney Todd and Helena Bonham Carter is Mrs. Lovett (who became Todd's lover, friend and partner in crime). The great actor job is complemented with another two great actors - Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall (they both play together in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). Actually, the reason why I watched the movie was Johnny Depp. Nevertheless, the whole movie is truly unique, and perhaps the fact that it is a musical makes it such. I love musicals, but I think that people who don't like them might enjoy the movie as well. The music is so incredible and likeable, and at the same time dreadful and thrilling. From the start to the end, the movie never stops surprising you. By genre the movie is Thriller and Musical, but I think that is also Horror and Black Comedy. You can bristle just in the beginning, not only because of the music, but also because of the blood which is everywhere (in the rain, on the streets, in the channels....), in the next moment there is a boy singing "There's no place like London" in amiable major tone. A second later, Johnny Depp is next to him singing "There is no place like London", but in minor tone. This contrast in the beginning is very strong. In the film, you can confuse whether you like Sweeney Todd or not, because his story is very sad and you star sympathizing with him. However, his first murder puts back the things in their place, because it's so disgusting. In comparison with some other movies, when the murderers are so good and precise in their murders, here Sweeney Todd literally cut his victims' throat lie bread. Well, it's really dreadful though. I can't think of another word to describe that scene. Everybody should see it for him self. This crudeness in the way he kills never changed, because he kills for revenge. In the movie, there is something like a subtitle which I really liked - "Never Forget. Never Forgive". Well, I liked because it's sounds really creepy.

Sweeney Todd's look is not very pleasant, but is very originally made. He never smiles and the paleness of his face makes him look like a ghost. His hair is black and bushy, there is only one white strip on the right side. Actually, he reminded me of Frankenstein is some strange way. In the movie you can find humor too, but black humor. I really enjoyed the part when Mrs. Loverr sings for first time. Here's a small part of the song:

But there's no one comes in even to inhale!
Right you are, sir, would you like a drop of ale?
Mind you I can hardly blame them!
These are probably the worst pies in London.
I know why nobody cares to take them!
I should know!
I make them!
But good? No...
The worst pies in London...
Even that's polite! The worst pies in London!
If you doubt it take a bite!

She sings so fast and light in the same time. I think that there are no better avtors for the movie. Johnny Depp and Helena Carter are very similar. I mean they both re-create that dark feeling so well. No wonder that Johnny Depp won several awards for his role.

However, let us go back to the plot. Benjamin Barker is a barber, who has been transported for life in Austria, because of Judge Turpin. The Judge wanted his beautiful wife Lucy, and with his powers charged the barber with a crime. However, after 1 years, Barker escaped from Australia on a ship and came back to London. He was rescued by a young sailor boy - Anthony Hope. In London Benjamin Barker changes his name to Sweeney Todd. When he goes back to his home, which was abandoned many years ago, he finds below it a meat pie shop run by his former landlady, Nellie Lovett. She tells him about that when he was arrested the Judge raped his wife, and after that she poisoned herself of shame, and their little daughter Johanna is under guardianship of Turpin. After that she returns Sweeney's razor. At the same moment he promised himself to take revenge upon those who had destroyed his life. At the same time Anthony Hope falls in love with Todd's daughter, and asks the barber to help rescue her from her "prison" in Judge's house.

Sweeney Todd meets Pitelli (an Italian barber who presents hi show on the street), and they compete. Of course, Sweeney Todd wins. Later that day Pirelli comes to visit him, but instead of being nice to Todd, he tells him that he knows who he really is and blackmails him. Then Sweeney kills him, and Mrs Lovett suggests they use Pirelli's body as meat for her pies, rather than "let it go to waste". The barber creates an incredible chair, which allows him to kill his victims with pushing a lever, to fall straight in the basement below, and then, from the basement, he carries the bodies to a huge stove where they can be baked. It sounds really creepy, but when you watch it, it's even more.

Sweeney decides his second victim to be the Judge (Actually, the plan was the Judge to be the first), but just then the sailor comes in and destroys his plan (the boy is coming to tell Todd that Turpin is going to marry to Johanna). Fulfilled with anger, the barber begins to kill every man coming for a shave. Mrs. Lovett's business prospers, but when the boy who helps her begins to suspect Sweeney (that's the boy who worked before with Pirelli), she decides to kill him, but first she locks him up in the basement. In meantime, Anthony rescues Johanna from the madhouse, where she is sent for her refuse to marry Turpin. The boy hides the girl in a chest in Sweneey's room and goes to look for him. Just then a strange woman enters the house (that woman appears a few time during the movie, because she saw how somebody killed innocent men in that room. She screamed for help, but nobody heard her, because she is poor and ageing woman, dressed with rags, so she determines to look into this for herself). A minute later, Sweeney comes too. She begins to warn him against the woman below. At first he listens to her, but when he hears Judge's voice coming out to him, with no hesitation and mercy, he cuts her throat. Unfortunately, Turpin follows the same fate. Todd finds the girl in the chest and if it wasn't for Mrs. Lovett's scream, he would have killed her as well because he doesn't know that she is his daughter. When he gets down he basement, he sees Mrs. Lovett trying to move the woman's body to the stove. Actually, she is screaming because Turpin isn't completely dead and has caught her arm, and after that she sees the woman. However, Sweeney orders her to open the stove to carry the bodies, but when he gets near the woman, he recognizes her. That is his wife. After an unsuccessful attempt of Mrs. Lovett to explain to him that she didn't tell him about the real fate of his wife ("Because I love you"), she is burnt alive in the oven. While mourning over his dead wife, Sweeney Todd is killed with his own razor by the boy who was locked in the same basement, but who was hiding all the time in a gully-hole. A tragic, Gothic, and black comedy opera at the same time.

Christian Dior

On this day 1905 in Granville, France was born Christian Dion. He died in 24 October 1967 from heart attack. Christian Dior was French designer, who dominated in the decade over World War II.
His family wasn't rich, and for that he was their only hope. In his childhood he was trained for diplomat, but always wanted to be involved in art business. When he graduated, his father gave him money, and he opened a small art gallery, where sold art by the likes of Pablo Picasso and Max Jacob. After his father lost his business, Christian was forced to close his gallery. However, he found a job as illustrating fashions for the weekly Figaro Illustre. Later worked as an assistant in the fashion house of Lucien Lelong.
Nevertheless, in 1945 he finally opened his own business again, but this time in the sphere of fashion, and Dior's fashion house opened in 1946. The following spring he presented his first fashion show.

The sensation of the “New Look” was followed by 10 years of success. It was contained first by Carmel Snow. The unusually of Dior's fashion was that his designers were more voluptuous than the other in that time. Christian is known as the master of shapes and silhouettes as well as the curvaceous form of the dresses, but exactly this innovation caused many discontents at the beginning. The women protested against covering up their legs. However, like many other geniuses, there should pass time to be accepted and become one of the most influential French designers at that time. Now his boutiques can be found in Paris, Milan, Rome, London, New York, Tokyo, and many other states.

Could it be?

Before I say what I'm going to write, I'll answer the question - everything is possible, just for some things is matter of time. What I'm talking about? People defects, if I can say it that way. Some very unusual cases in people anatomy, which I found and was very fascinated, and a bit scared. I'll start with the first Siamese twins Eng and Chang. Well, at least is said to be the first. They were born in 1811, but I doubt to be the first, because that's to late in history. They were joined at the sternum by a small piece of cartilage. Many doctors had seen them, but all of them were saying that if they were separated, they would die, therefore if the one dies, and the other dies. Of course, the medicine now, shows that that's not true and they would live. Actually, I don't know much for them, but that I know is quite interesting. As far as I know, the twins were very different. The one (I don't know who) was a drinker and always making many problems, and the other just the opposite - quiet and calm. They were married for two sisters and had many children, the one 10, and the other 12. The doctor's mistake is maybe and the reason why the one twin died. One night, the drinker had overdone the drinking, and later when they had already gone to bed, the other woke up and found that his brother had died. He was so scared he would die, that by the time his relatives and doctors came, he die in his fear. Sad story, though I think that every story with some kind of "defects" is sad on one way or another and the the medicine in current time, many times couldn't do much. Like the "tree man". They said that he could be cured, but what means "cured" in this situation? He won't be even near to the "normal body". The man we know from the fairy-tells live in Indonesia and "grew roots". Fired from his job and deserted by his wife, Dede has been raising his two children in poverty, resigned to the fact that local doctors had no cure for his condition. That's even more sad, because the fantastic goes beyond natural, if I can said it "natural". I mean embryonic part, twins or something like that. The same way, after years, we can think of seeing some centaur. It's sounds unbelievable and stupid, I know, but how I said - I believe that everything is possible. Here is and a video you can see about "tree man"

Of course, these "defects" some time can make you a "god". For example 2 years-old Lakshmi,
who had 2 pairs of legs and arms. Actually, that should be her unite parasitic twin. Fortunately, the team of surgeons in Bangalore were working in shifts to separate the bodies, and the operation is going well. The little girl is called on the Indian goddess of fortune, love and beauty, the lotus flower and fertility, Lakshmi, who had four arms. The people in girl's state didn't want the operation to be held, because that was their "goddess" sent on Earth. However, if the operation wasn't done, Lakshmi wouldn't live more than 12 years.

Well, that's from me. If you know more interesting cases like these, you can write me. I'll be very glad to learn more.

If you could give the police one piece of advice, what would it be?

I found this topic in one site on Internet and it made me laugh. I don't think that anyone could give even one piece of advice to the police, and for its safe shouldn't even try to do that :) Most policemen are really arrogant and haughty. They think they have all the rights on the world, and the worst is, most of the time you can't say anything. Well, of course you shouldn't behave like a bad-mannered man, but on the other hand they shouldn't behave like bad-mannered policemen.
In comparison with some other states, Bulgarian policemen aren't so bad. Even though, they are like angles. Once, I watched on the TV a "Hidden Camera" show, but not the funny show. It showed how Brazilian policemen beat innocent citizen without reason. It was awful. One night, when four men motored with their car to their homes, the police suddenly stopped them for document control. Then, a group of 5-6 policemen pulled the men off the car, and began to insult them and threatened. They wanted money. In Brazil it has a "war" between the poor citizen and the policemen because of the low salary, and beating and taking money by force, is the way they get their "deserved" money. However, sometimes beating is not enough. The men I talked about, didn't have much money, and one of the policemen had shot at the one man's leg, and the other policemen just watched as nothing happened. After some more torment , they let the men leave, and when you just think everything is over, one of the policemen raised his hand, shot at the back of the car, and killed the younger traveler on place. I couldn't believe in my eyes. Where should we look for our protection if not the police? And if the police could do that, what should we do? It so frightened, when you heard or saw things like that. The only thing you can comfort yourself with is that Brazil is far away from you. But that's very selfishly. What about the people who live there? These questions, without an answer I can give, weren't enough stressful for me, so when I surfed on Internet, all of a sudden, I found an article about Macedonia. Actually, about Makedonia's people who hate Bulgarian people. I knew something about that, but I didn't know how serious it is indeed. No one in school is talking about that, and on the news very rarely is mentioned and even when the media do that, soon after is forgotten. Thus, you should understand my amazement. In the article was written how the Macedonian were writing on the walls "Die Bulgarian!" front of the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Skopje. Twice this month. I really can't understand why is that hatred. After all, in Macedonia there are, as far as I know, around 40 and something percent Albanians, so why they hate us? Before many years, they were part of Bulgaria, but that's already over and nobody mentioned it in Bulgaria. Even in their media, the politician Shechtanski said "The Bulgarian Nation doesn't' exist, it's a fiction.". In the media?! The Bulgarians are beaten there, they are convicting of crimes with evidence proving their innocent and so on. If you are a Bulgarian you can read this http://e-vestnik.bg/2505. And nobody, I ask "Why", could answer me.
Well, I really digressed the topic. Even though, I almost didn't talk about it, but in the end I'll answer the question "If you could give the police one piece of advice, what would it be?".
Dear Policemen, do your job. Everyone of you, probably as a child, had dreamed of being a policeman. Not to be a bad man, but to catch the bad men. You can try sometime :)))

Becoming Jane

Becoming Jane is a movie about Jane Austen's life. A wonderful movie. I don't know how much the movie is based on her life, because it's a movie, and the movies very often just add or take out some things to make it more likable and therefore more profitable. However, the movie is good. It doesn't have the typical happy end, and that makes it more valuable. But otherwise how could it be? Jane Austen was from a poor family, and to be a writer in those hard times, especially if you a woman, wasn't very easy. She died only 41 years old and we only can speculate about her feelings. She wasn't very a talkative woman, even though she is defined as proud and selfish. Nevertheless in the movie this part of her character is not very well displayed. There are a few letters to her sister we know about, and ,of course, many books. Mr Darcy from "Pride and Prejudice" is believed that Mr. Darcy to be Mr. Lefroy, her lover.
I don't think I could write something more about her life, so I'm going to write about my impression for the movie. As just a movie; I mean without looking for the historical truth of her life .
Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy are in the main parts, Julian Jarrold is the director. Although the film goes beyond what is proven fact in assuming a real relationship between Austen and Lefroy, the original screenplay was inspired by real events, which were chronicled in the book Becoming Jane Austen by Jon Spence, who was the historical consultant on the film. If you want to see the world's view of the movie check this site http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/becoming_jane/ (a very popular movie review site). It credited the movie with a 58% approval rating, but the users credited it with 73%. However, that really doesn't matter because everyone likes different movies. For example, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is credited with 76 % approval rating, and I think it doesn't deserve even 55%, so it's a matter of taste.
Let's come back to the Synopsis. Jane Austen is a young girl from a poor family. Her father has many debts and she has to marry the nephew of Lady Gresham (Maggie Smith), a Mr. Wisley. However, she refuses to do that when he proposes her. At the same time, Tom Lefroy(James McAvoy) visits his relatives in the town, not by his wish. Then they meet, at the beginning Jane can't stand the self-centered Tom. Nevertheless, they fall in love. He takes Jane to London to try and convince his uncle and benefactor, Judge Langlois, to let him marry Jane. The Judge considers it, but after receiving a letter informing him of Jane's poor family, he refuses, so Jane has to come back home, and after a while she finds out that he is engaged. When the main actor comes to her to explain everything, they decide to elope. The next morning, she escapes from home, and they set off for London. On the way, the carriage stops because of some problem, and in that time she finds a letter of Tom's sister. In it she explains how grateful is she for his help and the money that he send her thanks to their uncle. Jane realizes without this money support from Judge Langlois, his sisters and brothers could not live. At that moment they break up their relationship, and she comes back to her town. The end of the movie is very sad, but very good. After many years, they meet each other. He is with his daughter, Jane :))). Jane Austen and Tom Lefroy say nothing, but their looks tell so much. If you couldn't understand well the movie, just watch the trailer ... :)))
